Ryan Brasier, Matt Barnes Toss Scoreless Innings
5 years agoBoston Red Sox reliever Ryan Brasier threw a scoreless sixth inning with a strikeout in Thursday's 8-7 win over the Blue Jays. Brasier hasn't allowed a run in seven of his eight previous outings. In 35 1/3 innings, the righty has a 1.10 WHIP with 32 strikeouts. Fellow reliever Matt Barnes went on to pitch a scoreless seventh inning, while striking out two and walking one. June was a terrible month for Barnes. In 13 innings, he allowed 14 runs and 16 hits with a 23/10 K/BB, so this scoreless outing was a solid start to July. Both Brasier and Barnes will lose their fantasy value once Nathan Eovaldi returns from the injured list, as the Red Sox are expected to use Eovaldi as the full-time closer. The former starter will certainly gain fantasy value when that move occurs.
