Ryan Brasier Hasn't Cleared Concussion Protocols
3 years agoBoston Red Sox pitching coach Dave Bush said that relief pitcher Ryan Brasier (head) still has not cleared the concussion protocols after he was hit in the head on June 4. Brasier has been throwing every day but has yet to get back on the mound. The 33-year-old right-hander's timetable for a return in the second half of the season will depend on when he's cleared from the league's protocols, but it sounds like it will be at least a few weeks to a month before he can return. Brasier has yet to pitch in 2021 and was also dealing with a calf injury. He had a decent 3.96 ERA, 3.15 FIP, 1.40 WHIP and 30/11 K/BB in 25 appearances (one start) in 25 innings out of the bullpen last season. While he won't be a candidate for saves when he returns, he will be a boost to Boston's setup stable when he returns.
