Ryan Brasier Earns Fifth Save Saturday
6 years agoBoston Red Sox relief pitcher Ryan Brasier allowed two hits while striking out one, en route to his fifth save of the season, in a 6-5 win over Tampa Bay Saturday. Brasier has now allowed at least one hit in seven of his 11 appearances. He's doing a fine job generating swings-and-misses, but when batters make contacts, it's hit hard. He's caught five barrels already this season after allowing just three all last season. Fellow reliever Matt Barnes earned the win after pitching the eighth inning, but it didn't come without issue. Barnes opened up the eighth by serving up a solo shot to Yandy Diaz to tie it at five, only to strike out the next three hitters he faced. Brasier has a lock on the ninth inning right now, with the Sox seemingly turning the corner. He should continue getting plenty of save opportunities as they move into a four-game series with Detroit on Monday.
