Ryan Blaney Has A Strong Showing, Finishes Sixth At Kentucky
4 years agoPenske Racing's Ryan Blaney finished in the sixth position in Sunday's Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Speedway. Blaney started from the 11th position and quickly jumped inside the top-10. Early in the race, Blaney had a scare when his transmission popped out of fourth gear. Luckily, no harm was done other than Blaney having the discomfort of driving with one hand, while holding the shifter in place. Blaney then passed Aric Almirola for the lead, just past the halfway point of the race, and finished with 18 laps led on the day. Coming to the line for the final lap, it looked like Blaney would steal the victory, but he hit a massive bump on the apron and made contact with Kevin Harvick, slowing his momentum. Regardless, it was still a strong day for Blaney, and he will look to build on that for next week's race at Texas.
