Ryan Blaney Feels Good About Martinsville Cutoff Race
1 year agoTwo of the four Championship drivers in this year's NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs are set, as Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell have both collected a victory in the Round of 8 to lock themselves into Phoenix. That leaves two spots remaining with just one race left before the cutoff. Currently, William Byron and Ryan Blaney are in on points, but that could change this weekend. It's likely going to take a catastrophic failure for Byron to miss the Championship race, and Blaney has a 10-point cushion. When asked about Sunday's Xfinity 500 at Martinsville, Blaney stated, "I personally feel fairly decent about it...We've run pretty good there in the past." Blaney hasn't finished worse than 11th at Martinsville since the 2018 season and has finishes of 7th, 3rd, and 4th here while racing the NextGen car. He starts 11th for this weekend's Xfinity 500 and had the fifth-fastest 30-lap average during practice on Saturday.
