Ryan Blaney Bounces Back From Speeding Penalty
2 years agoRyan Blaney has been one of the more conservative drivers on pit road, but at Atlanta he made the decision to get aggressive with his digital-dash settings. Blaney made a green-flag pit stop on Lap 133 and was penalized for speeding, resulting in a pass-through penalty. He chose a bad track to make this decision on, as Atlanta Motor Speedway extended pit road with the commitment line at the entrance of Turn 3. Pit road is now 3,968 feet, and this penalty nearly ended his day by trapping him two laps down. Blaney was able to rebound into the top 10, working to push teammate Joey Logano back to the front and finishing the race in seventh place.
