Russell Henley Looking To Cement His Ryder Cup Case
1 year agoWith so much uncertainty present on the back end of Team USA, the door has all of a sudden opened up for a player like Russell Henley to earn an invite on Zach Johnson's team in Rome. Henley already possesses a compelling profile for a Ryder Cup away day (elite driving accuracy and prolific iron play), but it's the recent results he's had down the stretch of the 2023 season that provides the most compelling argument for the UGA alum. Henley has finished 8th, 6th, and 2nd over his last three PGA starts (two of those being in Playoff events), and he remains one of the more consistent ball-strikers on the entire Tour. That formula should work very well around a course like Eastlake, so don't count Henley out in sneaking up this leaderboard come Sunday afternoon. If he does manage to put together another solid week, he'll certainly leave a tough decision in the hands of the American brass.
