3 years agoThe Kansas City Royals have requested unconditional release waivers on right-handed reliever Kyle Zimmer. Zimmer was previously designated for assignment by Kansas City as the club added Rule 5 draft-eligible prospects to the 40-man roster. The fifth-overall pick in the 2012 draft, Zimmer pitched to a 4.83 ERA and a 4.82 FIP in 54 innings for Kansas City last season, giving up 30 walks while striking out 46 batters. The 30-year-old also registered 10 holds. The Royals' current high-leverage bullpen options include Scott Barlow, Josh Staumont, and Domingo Tapia.--Ben Rosener - RotoBaller
