2 mins agoAccording to Anne Rogers of MLB.com, the Kansas City Royals had interest in outfielder Randal Grichuk before he signed a contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier on Tuesday. Grichuk signed a one-year deal worth $5 million with the Snakes. Given that the Royals showed interest in Grichuk, they may continue to look for another option to improve their outfield. Currently, Hunter Renfroe is slated to be the everyday right fielder. Last season, Renfroe posted a poor .229/.297/.392 slash line with 18 doubles, 15 home runs, and one stolen base. Under the hood, he generated a poor .223 xBA and a .291 xwOBA, both within the 18th percentile among qualified hitters. However, he is an excellent defender, which may keep him in the starting nine. MJ Melendez and Kyle Isbel are slated to cover left and center field respectively.
