Royals Designate Braden Shewmake For Assignment
27 seconds agoThe Kansas City Royals designated infielder Braden Shewmake for assignment on Friday to make room on their 40-man roster for recently-signed right-handed reliever Carlos Estevez, the team announced. Shewmake was also designated for assignment by the Chicago White Sox this offseason and could be on the move again before the start of spring training in several weeks. The 27-year-old middle infielder made his major-league debut with the Atlanta Braves in 2023 but appeared in only two games. In 29 games with the Pale Hose last year, Shewmake went just 8-for-64 (.125) with a homer, four RBI, five steals, four runs scored and 10 strikeouts in 67 plate appearances. The former 21st overall pick by the Braves in 2019 out of Texas A&M University will be looking to latch on with another organization as infield depth if he clears waivers.
