Rowan Wick Notches Fifth Save Of Season Monday
2 years agoChicago Cubs relief pitcher Rowan Wick picked up his fifth save of the season in Monday's 6-3 win over the Nationals. Wick came in to pitch the ninth inning up by three. He allowed a leadoff single, but then got a strikeout and a strikeout-caught stealing double play to end the game. This was the Cubs' first save opportunity since moving a number of bullpen arms at the trade deadline, so it looks like Wick will get the first shot to fill the void. The 29-year-old has now converted five of seven save opportunities with a 4.14 ERA, 9.07 K/9 rate, and 4.14 BB/9 rate. These numbers aren't great, but Wick is now worth a look in deeper roto leagues for fantasy managers chasing saves.
