Ross Stripling To Face Live Hitters On Wednesday
5 months agoOakland Athletics right-hander Ross Stripling (elbow), who landed on the injured list on May 25 with a right-elbow flexor strain, threw a bullpen session at Chase Field on Saturday that simulated two innings and included all of his pitches. Stripling's next step will be facing hitters in a live batting practice session on Wednesday, July 3. The 34-year-old veteran will eventually need to make at least a couple minor-league rehab starts before being activated from the injured list, so it's likely that we won't see him again in Oakland's starting rotation until after the All-Star break in mid-July. It's hard to get behind Stripling in even deep-mixed fantasy leagues after he went 1-9 with a 5.82 ERA and 1.59 WHIP with a 35:12 K:BB in 55 2/3 innings over his first 11 starts this year in his first year with the A's. He's currently sporting a career-worst 13.9% strikeout rate.
