Ross Chastain Unlikely To Make The Highlight Reels At Martinsville This Time
2 days agoRoss Chastain became one of the closest things to a household name among millennial NASCAR drivers when his wall ride on the last lap at Martinsville two years ago unexpectedly locked himself into the Championship 4. After having missed the playoffs this year, he has much lower stakes this time. However, Trackhouse Racing has had significantly less speed this year than in 2022 and they are rarely fast on short tracks (with the notable exception of Richmond where Daniel Suarez got to benefit from a wild optional tire strategy). Chastain's only top tens at Martinsville both came in 2022 when Trackhouse was faster, but since he is starting 22nd and has finished 13th or 14th in the last three races, a relatively mediocre run between 10th-15th seems the most likely outcome for Chastain.
