4 weeks agoTrackhouse Racing's Ross Chastain will start Sunday's Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway from the 22nd position. This is Chastain's lowest starting position at the Florida track since the introduction of the Next-Gen car in 2022. In five starts at Homestead, Chastain has only one top-10 finish, but it was a second-place result from the 2022 Cup race, and he also collected positive Place Differential four times in his career at the site. With 33 races completed this year, Chastain has one win, 13 top-10 finishes, and an average finish of 14.5. At 1.5-mile Intermediate tracks this season, Chastain has four top-10 finishes, including a win at Kansas Speedway earlier in the playoffs. In practice, Chastain ranked 20th in overall lap averages and 11th in 10 consecutive lap averages.
