Ross Chastain Could Surprise on Sunday at Atlanta
3 years agoRoss Chastain carries some risk as performance metrics put him in the ninth position for the second Atlanta race. This was buoyed by his 14th at Atlanta (started 21st) and probably a second in Nashville and seventh last week at Wisconsin. Chastain can drive on road courses no question (three top-tens in the previous three races). Does a better starting position help the Chip Ganassi Racing driver? Chastain is still 18th in the points race with limited time left but he still has a shot. A month ago, the No. 42 had no chance. He could easily hover around the top ten and the longer he does, the longer Chastain may contend for an even better result.
