Ronny Mauricio Expected To Open The Season At Triple-A
16 seconds agoAccording to Will Sammon of The Athletic, New York Mets infield prospect Ronny Mauricio (knee) will likely open the 2025 season with Triple-A Syracuse. Given the recent signing of Pete Alonso, there is one less spot open in the infield for Mauricio. Sammon also noted that the team will likely "take things slow" with Mauricio as he is recovering from a torn ACL. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status during spring training, as a strong showing could change the team's plans. Mauricio was given a brief taste of the majors during the 2023 season, and he was able to hold his own. Across 26 games, Mauricio held a .248/.296/.347 line with four doubles, two home runs, and seven stolen bases. Across 116 games at Triple-A, Mauricio has held a .292/.346/.506 line with 23 home runs and 24 stolen bases. As a result, fantasy managers should expect Jeff McNeil to open camp as the team's top second baseman.
