Ronny Mauricio Continues To Show Power
2 years agoNew York Mets shortstop prospect Ronnie Mauricio went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer on Monday. It was his second consecutive contest that he went yard. The 21-year-old has been one of the Mets top prospects over the last few seasons and spent this past offseason in gym bulking up, which has translated to more power in his bat thus far. The Mets have shortstop Francisco Lindor, who isn't going anywhere, but one has to wonder if Mauricio can break camp if he keeps hitting the cover off the ball. Mauricio's best shot at everyday appearances at the big-league level would be to overtake third base prospect Brett Baty or infielder Luis Guillorme at the hot corner. It's too early in camp to draw any conclusions, but Mauricio should be monitored in redraft leagues and already rostered in dynasty formats.
