Ronald Guzman Could See Time At DH
4 years agoTexas Rangers first baseman Ronald Guzman lost his starting role at the position to Nate Lowe but the injury to Khris Davis (quad) could allow Guzman to see regular playing time. He actually outperformed Lowe this spring (OPS of 1.001 vs .646) but he finds himself without a guaranteed home in the everyday lineup. Along with Davis, Willie Calhoun (groin) is also out with an injury and he too was expected to see time at DH. The 26-year-old Guzman has struggled to produce at the MLB level but he provided a 104 wRC+ in his third taste of big-league action in 2020. Along with first base and DH, it's expected that he could also see some time in the corner outfield.

Ronald Guzman Pulled From Sunday's Game
2 years agoSan Francisco Giants infielder/pitcher Ronald Guzman (forearm) was pulled out of Sunday's Cactus League matchup due to injury. Guzman threw a wild pitch to the backstop and immediately bent down in pain afterwards. Manager Gabe Kapler mentioned that Guzman felt something in his forearm on the final pitch that he threw. The expectation is that the organization is going to have Guzman undergo further testing. Hopefully, this injury is minor, but fantasy managers will have to check back for more updates on his status.

Giants List Ronald Guzman As Two-Way Player
2 years agoThe San Francisco Giants are listing Ronald Guzman as an infielder and left-handed pitcher. Guzman joined the Giants on a minor-league deal this offseason after playing in only three major-league games for the New York Yankees in 2022. He appeared in one game as a reliever at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last year and can hit the high-90s with his fastball. It will give the 28-year-old another avenue in order to stick with the big-league team in 2023, but he won't be on anyone's fantasy radar to begin the season. Guzman has played in only 10 big-league games the last two years and holds a .225/.302/.410 career slash line with a .712 OPS, 31 home runs and 104 RBI in five major-league seasons (four with the Texas Rangers).

Ronald Guzman Signs Minor-League Deal With Giants
2 years agoThe San Francisco Giants signed free-agent first baseman Ronald Guzman to a minor-league deal on Thursday. Guzman spent the first four years of his major-league career with the Texas Rangers, slashing .227/.304/.414 with a .718 OPS, 31 home runs, 104 RBI, 91 runs scored and three stolen bases in 243 games played. He ended up playing in only three games with the New York Yankees in 2022, going hitless in six at-bats with five strikeouts. The 28-year-old will provide the Giants with some depth at the first base position after veteran slugger Brandon Belt left in free agency this offseason.

Ronald Guzman Signs Minor-League Deal With Yankees
3 years agoThe New York Yankees signed free-agent first baseman Ronald Guzman (knee) to a minor-league deal that includes an invitation to Spring Training. He was limited to just seven games last season after suffering a meniscus tear in his right knee in April. The 27-year-old has flashed power with 31 home runs in 737 at-bats over four major-league seasons. The former Texas Ranger is expected to be fully recovered from his knee injury heading into Spring Training. Guzman will have a fresh start in New York, but with no guaranteed full-time role, isn't on the fantasy radar in 2022 even if he makes the big league roster.
