Romy Gonzalez, Lenyn Sosa Among Second Base Candidates
2 years agoChicago White Sox general manager Rick Hahn stated Tuesday that Romy Gonzalez and Lenyn Sosa are the team's leading candidates as internal options to start at second base, per Chicago Sun Times' Daryl Van Schouwen. Hahn also mentioned veteran Leury Garcia as a backup. Gonzalez had a poor 2022 season at the plate, slashing just .238/.257/.352 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 109 plate appearances. Sosa had a very successful season across Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte, but he only saw 36 plate appearances at the big-league level. Hahn did mention that it is possible that the White Sox could look outside of the organization for the position, but while neither Gonzalez nor Sosa inspire much fantasy confidence at this time, Sosa's success in the minors makes him a more intriguing fantasy option.
