Roman Bogatov No Longer Undefeated After UFC Debut
4 years agoRoman Bogatov, the former M-1 Challenge champion, suffered a loss at the hands of Leonardo Santos in his organizational debut. With half of Bogatov's victories coming by submission, it's important to his game to get his opponent to the mat. He was only 1-for-11 on takedowns, which will never give you the opportunities you need to submit. Bogatov was able to land 50 significant strikes and 81 total strikes. In the third round, Bogatov had two points taken away for an illegal knee. The two low blows earlier in the round probably did not help. The "UFC jitters" can be a thing, so it will be important to see how steady on his feet Bogatov looks his next time out. If he can improve that takedown rate, it's possible he will go on a finishing run of UFC talent.
