Roenis Elias Throws Clean Ninth For Save
5 years agoSeattle Mariners reliever Roenis Elias locked down the team’s 5-3 win over the Rangers Wednesday, tossing a clean ninth for his 13th save of the season. Despite owning a 14.40 ERA in July entering the night, Elias has still remained the go-to guy for saves in the M’s bullpen. He hasn’t posted sexy numbers with a 4.70 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 43 strikeouts in 43.0 IP, but he’s currently the most seasoned pitcher they have. Elias’ role is likely to change somewhat with Hunter Strickland set to return from the IL in Early August. Whether he returns to a setup role or splits duties for save chances, Elias’ fantasy appeal will significantly drop once Strickland returns.
