Roenis Elias Converts Seven-Out Save
6 years agoSeattle Mariners reliever Roenis Elias was summoned in the seventh inning Tuesday night to get out of a two-out bases-loaded jam. He did just that striking out Chad Pinder to protect the team's one-run lead before striking out the side in a clean eighth inning. Elias ran into some trouble in the ninth after a walk and an error, but he got Josh Phegley to ground into a game-ending double play. It was the fifth save of the year for the left-hander who's impressing as a late-inning arm for the M's with a 2.78 ERA on the season. Elias remains the favorite for saves with Anthony Swarzak struggling and is worth rostering in deeper leagues to help out in this elusive category. He's not your prototypical power reliever, but the results have been productive this year nonetheless.
