Robinson Cano To Potentially Debut Within Next Two Weeks
5 years agoNew York Mets manager Luis Rojas indicated that second baseman Robinson Cano is working to strengthen his legs. Rojas expects Cano to debut in Grapefruit League games around the end of February or start of March. Cano was hampered by quadriceps and hamstring injuries in 2019, which limited him to 107 games. In 2019, Cano hit .256 with 13 home runs and 39 RBI in 390 at-bats. Given his injury history and age (37), Cano's best days are behind him. With that said, if he's healthy, the Mets would likely keep him in the lineup given his hefty contract and the high price to acquire him from the Mariners. If fully healthy, Cano would have every opportunity to re-emerge as a productive bat in the middle of a potent Mets lineup. He is worth a draft selection in deep mixed leagues and in all NL-only formats.
