Robinson Cano May Not be Everyday Second Baseman Upon Return
7 years agoSeattle Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano may not be used every day when he returns from his suspension in August. Cano can return from his suspension on Aug. 14 but will not be eligible to play in the postseason. General manager Jerry Dipoto said Monday, "If we want to be in the postseason - which we do - then we know who our second baseman is going to be. And it's going to be Dee Gordon." It would make sense for the Mariners to allow other players to stay fresh during a playoff push while Cano is not eligible to play in the playoffs. While Cano should still play plenty, it'll make him a more frustrating fantasy player to own down the stretch.
