Roberto Perez Out Of Lineup With Fractured Finger
4 years agoCleveland Indians catcher Roberto Perez (finger) is out of Sunday's lineup while dealing with a non-displaced fracture in his right ring finger, according to Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal. The team has determined that Perez will be able to play through the injury, but manager Terry Francona wanted to give him a day off. They hope that Perez will return to the lineup on Monday, and that the issue will be resolved within seven to 10 days without requiring an IL stint. Perez has struggled at the plate this year, slashing .143/.294/.321 over 18 games. Austin Hedges will get the start in his place Sunday, and will bat ninth against Lucas Giolito and the White Sox.
