Robert Gsellman Likely Headed To The Injured List
4 years agoNew York Mets relief pitcher Robert Gsellman (triceps) is likely headed to the injured list to begin the season due to his right triceps issue. The expectation is that the IL stint will be backdated and Gsellman should be back with the team roughly a week into the season. In 2019, Gsellman produced a 4.66 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and struck out 60 in 63 2/3 innings pitched. Gsellman allowed only a 3.7% overall barrel rate and overall exit velocity of 85.3 mph, both figures which were in the top four percent of all of MLB. If healthy, Gsellman could see positive regression in both ERA and WHIP as a middle relief member of the Mets bullpen in 2020. He is potentially useful in deeper holds leagues.
