Robbie Ray To Throw Five Innings In Rehab Start On Friday
4 months agoSan Francisco Giants left-hander Robbie Ray (elbow) will throw five innings on Friday in what is expected to be his final minor-league rehab start with Triple-A Sacramento. This is your cue to grab Ray off the waiver wire if he's available. The 32-year-old veteran southpaw has yet to make his debut with the Giants in 2024 while rehabbing from Tommy John surgery last year, but if he's able to avoid setbacks on Friday night, he could make his debut for San Fran next week against the division-rival Los Angeles Dodgers. That wouldn't be a great spot to deploy Ray in fantasy lineups in his first start in the big leagues this year, but Ray's strikeout upside makes him worth rostering in mixed leagues. He led the league in ERA (2.84), innings (193 1/3), strikeouts (248) and WHIP (1.04) in 2021 when he won the American League Cy Young for the Toronto Blue Jays and has five seasons of 200-plus K's in his career.
