7 months agoThe Detroit Tigers activated outfielder Riley Greene (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list and announced he will serve as the 27th man for tonight's game against the New York Yankees. Greene is working back from a right hamstring strain and will hit in the No. 2 spot in the Tigers' lineup on Sunday. The 23-year-old is hitting .264/.357/.485 this season with 17 homers and 51 RBI in 101 games this season. Greene is a solid producer in fantasy leagues and should be activated on most fantasy rosters upon this news.--Brian Buckey - RotoBaller

4 weeks agoAccording to Jason Beck of MLB.com, Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene emphasized improving his diet and exercise plan during the offseason to increase his playing time in the upcoming season. Last season, Greene was able to play in a career-high 137 contests, but he has his eye on an even more significant workload in 2025. This was his first season surpassing the 100-game mark. The 24-year-old's new offseason plan hopefully ensures his body is able to handle a full 162-game season. Last summer, Greene held a .262/.348/.479 slash line and tallied a career-best 24 long balls. Under the hood, he generated a strong .353 xwOBA and a .477 xSLG, which placed him in the 88th and 89th percentile, respectively. He also showed a strong eye at the plate and drew walks at an 11.0 percent rate. Fantasy managers should expect Greene to see most of his time in left field with occasional starts as the designated hitter.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

6 months agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene had a solid two-hit game and recorded an RBI on Friday in the Tigers' 4-1 win over the Chicago White Sox. Greene hit an RBI double in the bottom of the seventh to help the Tigers advance to the postseason for the first time since 2014. Greene increased his OPS to .836 on the season and now has 74 RBI. The lefty will be an important piece of Detroit's lineup as they are 73-60 when Greene is in the starting lineup. Greene battled hamstring issues earlier in the 2024 season as helped the Tigers' impressive playoff push take off almost as soon as he returned to the lineup in mid-August. As the Tigers wait to see who they will face it may be wise for Detroit to rest Greene on either Saturday or Sunday to preserve his health for the wild card series.--Kevin Larson - RotoBaller

6 months agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene continued his breakout campaign on Sunday, bashing his 22nd and 23rd homers to lead the Tigers to a 4-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles. Greene finished the day 2-for-4 with the two homers, two runs scored, and three RBI. While the 23-year-old has been slightly inconsistent month-to-month, his overall stat line is very good. He has a .265/.354/.494 slash line with 23 homers, 76 runs scored, and 69 RBI in 464 at-bats. He is looking like a four-category contributor heading into next season and should be taken as a solid second outfielder in fantasy.--Matt Garon - RotoBaller

7 months agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene will head to the bench for Monday's contest against the division-rival Chicago White Sox and right-hander Davis Martin at Guaranteed Rate Field. It appears to be just a normal day of rest for Greene, who has gone 6-for-25 (.240) with a homer, two doubles, four RBI and eight runs scored in six games played since returning from the injured list on Aug. 18. The 23-year-old left-handed-hitting outfielder was a first-time All-Star this year and is currently slashing .263/.355/.482 with an .837 OPS, 18 home runs, 55 RBI and 65 runs scored in 107 games played in his third year in the Show. Greene has been useful for outfield depth in most mixed leagues as a lineup regular for Detroit. Zach McKinstry is starting in left field on Monday and will hit seventh against Martin in the series finale. McKinstry is a low-upside, deep DFS sleeper.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
