Riley Greene Getting Rare Breather Tuesday
1 year agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday night's contest against the Chicago Cubs and left-hander Drew Smyly. The Tigers are stacking right-handed bats against the veteran southpaw on Tuesday, which affords them an opportunity to get their prized youngster off his feet, at least to start the contest. The 2019 first-round pick has broke out in a big way in his sophomore season, hitting .299 with 11 home runs, six stolen bases, and a .831 OPS across 89 appearances on the season while missing time with a stress reaction in his fibula in June and July. Kerry Carpenter will take over in right field for Greene who played a position other than center field for the first time in his career on Monday.
