Ricky Tiedemann To Have Tommy John Surgery
4 months agoToronto Blue Jays left-handed pitching prospect Ricky Tiedemann (elbow) will have Tommy John surgery on Tuesday, July 30, according to manager John Schneider. Tiedemann was hoping to avoid having surgery on his left elbow and sought out three separate opinions, but in the end, he couldn't avoid elbow reconstruction. The club's top prospect, per MLB Pipeline, is one of the most talented pitching prospects in all of baseball, but he hasn't been able to stay healthy and will now miss the rest of the 2024 season and most likely all of next year as well. It's a big setback for the 21-year-old southpaw, to say the least. He's going to fall considerably in prospect rankings now after he was a prime candidate to make his major-league debut in 2024 before more arm injuries cropped up earlier this year.
