Rick Porcello To Start Game 3 Of World Series
6 years agoBoston Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that starting pitcher Rick Porcello will start Game 3 of the World Series in Los Angeles against the Dodgers on Friday. Nathan Eovaldi won't be available to start until at least Game 4 after tossing two innings in relief in each of the first two games. Porcello won 17 games this year but was a bit inconsistent and allowed four earned runs and seven hits in his lone start in the ALCS against the Astros. The Dodgers are much more dangerous against right-handed pitchers as well, although Porcello was better on the road (3.86 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 9.4 K/9) than at home (4.77 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, 8.4 K/9). In two career starts at Dodger Stadium, Porcello has a 5.91 ERA with seven runs allowed in 10 2/3 innings. He'll be on a short leash on Friday.
