Richard Sherman Willing To Move To Safety
6 years agoSan Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman said he's willing to move to safety as he nears the end of his career. “It’s definitely something that I’ve looked at,” Sherman said. “And something that I’ve talked with (Charles Woodson) about.” Sherman is 30 years old this year and anticipates playing at least four or five more years. “At some point everybody makes a transition to safety if you’re smart enough to play that game. And I’ll probably do that in a couple years - or whatever the team needs.” He's in the first year of a three-year deal with San Fran that runs through the 2020 season. After missing two of four games earlier in the year with calf and heel issues, Sherman has played in five straight games as the regular season comes to a close soon. While he's no longer an elite shutdown corner that opposing quarterbacks avoid for long stretches of time, Sherman remains effective and has 24 tackles, one sack and four passes defensed on the year. He's yet to have his first interception with the Niners, however.
