Richard Rodriguez Strikes Out Three In Scoreless Inning
4 years agoPittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher Richard Rodriguez allowed one hit and struck out the side in a scoreless inning of work against the Yankees on Wednesday night. Rodriguez faced the heart of the Yankees order in the fifth inning, striking out Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Gleyber Torres while allowing only a one-out double to Brett Gardner. He's been looking sharp in his first two outings of the spring, allowing one run on three hits while striking out five in just two innings pitched. There's been some competition this spring for the closer role in Pittsburgh, but Rodriguez looks like he's on track to keep the job if he continues to pitch like this.
