Richard Rodriguez Holds Yankees Scoreless Saturday
4 years agoPittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher Richard Rodriguez tossed a scoreless third inning against the Yankees on Saturday, allowing only one hit while striking out two in the loss. Facing the heart of the Yankees order, Rodriguez got swinging strikeouts against Aaron Judge and Luke Voit, and made Giancarlo Stanton pop out in foul territory, while Aaron Hicks' one-out single was the only baserunner he allowed. Saturday's outing now gives Rodriguez seven strikeouts in three innings of work this spring, as he has allowed just one run on four hits and no walks. The biggest concern with his fantasy value is just how many save opportunities will there be in Pittsburgh this year, but so far he is looking like a solid, late-round closer in all formats.
