Richard Rodriguez Earns First Save Of Season Sunday
4 years agoPittsburgh Pirates right-handed pitcher Richard Rodriguez picked up his first save of the season Sunday against Milwaukee. The save was both just the second of his career, as well as the second all year for Pittsburgh. With Keone Kela (forearm) currently sidelined, Rodriguez appears to have taken the reins on the closer’s role for the Bucs. (Nick Burdi, the only other Pirate to have notched a save this year, is out for the season.) Pittsburgh doesn’t present many save chances, but Rodriguez has 16 strikeouts in his first 11 ⅔ innings and should be a solid contributor for season-long owners in any format so long as he continues to receive save opportunities.
