After losing the series opener to the Washington Nationals, the Philadelphia Phillies prevailed Saturday afternoon at Nationals Park. The offensive hero was the club’s star sophomore, Rhys Hoskins, who delivered a two-run home run in the opening frame. While early, it proved to be the biggest hit of the game, with the Phillies winning, 3-1. It was Hoskins’ lone hit of the game from the second spot in the lineup. For the season, the 25-year-old is hitting .286 with five home runs and 22 RBI, helping the Phillies to a surprising start that has them only a game and a half out of first place in the National League East.--RDelgado
