Reynaldo Lopez, Matt Moore Heading To Cleveland
1 year agoThe Cleveland Guardians claimed relief pitchers Reynaldo Lopez and Matt Moore off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday, according to a source. Cleveland also landed starter Lucas Giolito as they try to make up ground in the American League Central -- they're currently five games behind the Twins. The 29-year-old Lopez will move into a late-inning setup role ahead of closer Emmanuel Clase in Cleveland. He's posted a 3.93 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 71 strikeouts in 55 relief innings in 2023 for the Chicago White Sox and Angels. Lopez also has his first six career saves this year. Moore, a 34-year-old left-handed veteran, will give Cleveland even more bullpen depth for the stretch run. He's been great for the Angels this year, sporting a 2.66 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 49 punchouts in 44 relief innings.
