Reiver Sanmartin Likely Headed For The Injured List
2 years agoCincinnati Reds southpaw Reiver Sanmartin (elbow) left Sunday's contest against the Chicago White Sox with elbow soreness. The 27-year-old told reporters that he expects to be placed on the 15-day injured list, according to Bobby Nightengale of the Enquirer. The severity of the ailment is unknown, but elbow injuries are always scary when dealing with pitchers. Sanmartin is in the midst of his third MLB season and has posted a 7.07 ERA with 13 strikeouts and 10 walks over 14 innings out of relief. After showing flashes of dominance during a cup of coffee in 2021, when he pitched to a 1.54 ERA in two starts, there was some excitement surrounding the former Reds top 30 prospect. It's safe to say that excitement is gone, and Sanmartin has no fantasy value in any format, especially with his latest injury.
