Reilly Smith Strikes Again as Vegas Takes 2-0 Series Lead
5 years agoThe Vegas Golden Knights jumped out to a 2-0 series lead over the Chicago Blackhawks in Round 1 of the Stanley Cup playoffs with a 4-3 overtime win on Thursday. Reilly Smith, who scored twice in Game 1, had the winning goal in overtime. Paul Stastny, Tomas Nosek, and Mark Stone also scored goals for Vegas. Both Stastny and Smith chipped in helpers, too. Jonathan Marchessault had two assists. Chicago had a much better performance in the Game 2 and received goals from Kirby Dach, Dominik Kubalik, and Dylan Strome. All three goals were scored in the second period. Patrick Kane assisted on all three goals. Corey Crawford stopped 35 of 39 shots in the loss. Both teams face off again on Saturday.

Reilly Smith Sits Out Sunday's Action
2 weeks agoNew York Rangers right wing Reilly Smith (roster management) will not be in the lineup on Sunday against the Nashville Predators. He is a candidate to be moved ahead of next week's trade deadline, and the Rangers are protecting their asset by keeping Smith off the ice. Smith is a pending unrestricted free agent and should draw plenty of interest from other teams, having registered 29 points (10 goals, 19 assists) in 58 games this season. The veteran winger is also a proven playoff performer, with 26 goals and 79 points in 106 career postseason games.

Reilly Smith Enjoys Three-Point Outing Tuesday
1 year agoPittsburgh Penguins winger Reilly Smith notched three points as the team defeated Columbus 5-3 on Tuesday. Smith had two assists, one on the power play, and wrapped up the scoring in the middle of the third frame. The 32-year-old celebrated his fifth multi-point outing of the campaign. It's been a bumpy ride for Smith with the Penguins, but he has started to pick up form again. A run of two goals and eight assists in 10 games has boosted Smith's points tally for the season to 29. He's had 11 goals and 18 assists in 54 appearances.

Reilly Smith Back In Action Versus Jets
1 year agoPittsburgh Penguins winger Reilly Smith (upper body) will return from a six-game absence on Tuesday against Winnipeg. The veteran will make his 41st appearance of the campaign, looking to add to eight goals and 12 assists. Smith hasn't been consistent and enters Tuesday's action with a six-game scoreless streak. However, with him skating on the second line with Evgeni Malkin, there's always a chance Smith breaks out. He is also set for duty on the first power-play unit on Tuesday, which boosts his fantasy appeal even more.

Reilly Smith Out Long-Term
1 year agoPittsburgh Penguins winger Reilly Smith is out "longer term" after suffering an upper-body injury in the first period of Thursday's overtime loss versus the Vancouver Canucks. The veteran skated just 3:08 in Thursday's game before departing for good. While Smith has a decent eight goals and 20 points across 40 games, he is in the midst of a miserable stretch that has seen him register just two goals over his last 27 games, including Thursday's abbreviated outing. His ice time has been down a little bit to 16:14 on the season but he has largely skated on the team's second line alongside star pivot Evgeni Malkin at even strength while seeing second-unit power play time on occasion. Drew O'Connor is the likeliest of candidates to take over the left-wing role on the Penguins' second line.
