Reid Detmers Nearly Unhittable On Wednesday
2 years agoLos Angeles Angels left-hander Reid Detmers was at the top of his game on Wednesday night against the division-rival Texas Rangers in a 2-0 victory. Detmers tossed 7 1/3 scoreless innings while giving up just one hit, walking four and striking out five to pick up his third win of the season. Not many folks would have expected this dominating of a performance against one of the best offenses in baseball, especially after the 24-year-old southpaw had allowed 14 earned runs over just 6 1/3 innings in his last two starts. The Rangers didn't pick up their first hit until the eighth inning. In his third season with the Halos, Detmers has been highly inconsistent, pitching to a 4.93 ERA (4.25 FIP), 1.36 WHIP, 48 walks and a career-high 136 strikeouts in 115 innings over his 22 starts.
