Reid Detmers 2025 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Late-Round Lottery Ticket Battling Inconsistency
39 mins agoLos Angeles Angels starting pitcher Reid Detmers showed moments of greatness in 2024 but ultimately struggled over the long run. He delivered an excellent 27.9% strikeout rate but ended up posting a 6.70 ERA and 1.56 WHIP over his 17 starts in the majors. Despite having three double-digit strikeout performances, he also had six starts where he allowed five or more runs. This mix of very good with very bad makes the lefty nearly unusable in fantasy, as it's hard to trust him no matter how good he looked in the previous start. Detmers will be competing for the Angels' fifth starter during spring training. ATC is projecting him to post a 4.33 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and 128 strikeouts over 115 innings pitched in 2025. Detmers will have to prove that he deserves a spot in the major league rotation, but he's a fine late-round flier with an ADP of 351. He is still only 25 years old and offers much more upside than the other pitchers being drafted around him.
