Reds Release Hunter Strickland
2 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds released relief pitcher Hunter Strickland on Tuesday. Strickland had yet to appear in the big leagues for the Reds this season and was pitching on the farm at Triple-A Louisville, where he had allowed 14 runs on 13 hits (two home runs) while walking 12 and striking out eight in 11 relief innings. The 34-year-old right-hander has 28 career saves in nine major-league seasons, but he'll be looking for work elsewhere now that he's on the open market. In his 66 relief appearances for the Reds in 2022, Strickland had a 4.91 ERA (4.78 FIP), 1.51 WHIP and 21.1 percent strikeout rate in 62 1/3 innings pitched.
