Reds Recall Noelvi Marte From Triple-A
1 week agoThe Cincinnati Reds recalled infielder Noelvi Marte from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday after placing second baseman Matt McLain (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list. Marte isn't in the team's starting lineup on Tuesday in San Francisco against the Giants, but he'll give the Reds additional infield depth moving forward with McLain sidelined. The 23-year-old earned the early-season call-up by hitting .353 (12-for-34) with six doubles, five RBI and three stolen bases in nine games at Louisville. The Dominican infielder just couldn't get it going in his second year in the big leagues in 2024 after serving an 80-game suspension for a violation of the league's drug-prevention program, as he slashed .210/.248/.301 with a .549 OPS in 66 games for the Reds. Marte will get more chances to prove he belongs in the big leagues, but for now, he's merely a stash candidate in NL-only affairs.
