Red Sox Sign Abraham Toro To Minor-League Deal
1 day agoThe Boston Red Sox signed free-agent infielder Abraham Toro to a minor-league deal on Tuesday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training, according to sources. The switch-hitting infielder will try to carve out a utility infield role with Boston in spring training this year after he slashed .240/.293/.350 with six home runs, 26 RBI, four stolen bases and 34 runs scored in 94 games and 364 plate appearances with the Oakland Athletics in 2024. The 28-year-old Canadian was originally drafted in the fifth round by the Houston Astros in 2016 out of Seminole State College. Toro hasn't really moved the needle offensively in parts of six big-league seasons with the Astros, Mariners, A's and Brewers, slashing a career .220/.285/.353 with a .638 OPS and only 34 home runs in 365 games played. There's a good chance he'll open the 2025 season at Triple-A Worcester.
