Red Sox Reportedly Sign Hansel Robles To Minors Deal
3 years agoThe Boston Red Sox reportedly signed relief pitcher Hansel Robles to a minor league deal with an invitation to Spring Training, per MassLive's Chris Cotillo. Robles finished the 2021 season with Boston after coming over in a trade-deadline deal from the Minnesota Twins for pitching prospect Alex Scherff. Overall, the veteran pitched to a 4.43 ERA, a 4.30 FIP, 76 strikeouts, and 37 walks in 69 innings last season. However, he was much more effective down the stretch with the Red Sox, logging a 3.60 ERA and a 3.37 FIP in 25 innings following the trade from Minnesota. Boston's current late-inning options include Matt Barnes, Garrett Whitlock, and Jake Diekman.
