Red Sox Not Expected To Re-Sign Craig Kimbrel
6 years agoBoston Red Sox general manager Dave Dombrowski doesn't expect the team to re-sign closer Craig Kimbrel, as they aren't expected to spend big on a ninth-inning man for 2019. Kimbrel is one of the most dominant closers in the game after posting a 2.74 ERA, 13.9 K/9 and 42 saves in 2018 with the BoSox, and he'll be paid handsomely on the open market. The hard-throwing righty had 108 saves over three years in Beantown. With Kimbrel and Joe Kelly possibly departing in free agency, Boston's bullpen would have a completely new look next year. Whichever reliever they sign in free agency would see a big fantasy boost closing out games for a really good team.
