Red Sox Nearing Extension With Chris Sale
6 years agoThe Boston Red Sox have a framework in place for a long-term extension with starting pitcher Chris Sale, a source confirmed to MLB.com's Ian Browne on Friday. The left-handed ace is entering the final year of his contract in 2019. Since being acquired from the White Sox before the 2017 season, Sale has a 2.56 ERA in 59 starts in two seasons for Boston with 545 strikeouts in 372 1/3 innings. He's been an All-Star for the last seven seasons and has finished in the top five of Cy Young voting the last six years. He's RotoBaller's No. 2 fantasy starter, although there is a bit of risk after he missed a lot of the second half last year with shoulder trouble.
