Red Sox Exercise Chris Sale's Option
6 years agoThe Boston Red Sox predictably exercised starting pitcher Chris Sale's $13.5 million option for the 2019 season on Tuesday. Sale was once again one of the best pitchers in all of baseball in 2018, although left shoulder issues slowed him considerably at the end of the year. The southpaw went 12-4 with a 2.11 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 237 K's in 158 innings over 27 starts in the regular season. He went 1-0 with seven earned runs allowed in 15 1/3 innings over his three starts in the postseason in the team's World Series run. Sale will undoubtedly be one of the first pitchers off the board in 2019 fantasy drafts.
