Red Sox Close To Hiring Andrew Bailey As Pitching Coach
1 year agoThe Boston Red Sox are nearing an agreement to hire Andrew Bailey as their new pitching coach, per the Boston Globe's Alex Speier and Julie McWilliams. The former pitcher spent the last four seasons as the pitching coach of the Giants following two seasons as a member of the Angels' coaching staff. Bailey and new Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow were teammates for five seasons on both the Athletics and the Red Sox and are friends. Bailey has recently helped turn a number of starting pitchers around, such as Kevin Gausman, Carlos Rodon, and Logan Webb, so the Red Sox will hope for the same after a last-place finish in 2023.
