Red Sox Acquire Quinn Priester From The Pirates
4 months agoThe Boston Red Sox acquired right-hander Quinn Priester from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday in exchange for infield prospect Nick Yorke, according to sources. Priester, once a top pitching prospect for Pittsburgh, will now head to Boston, where he'll serve as organizational starting pitching depth. The 23-year-old former 18th overall pick in 2019 will most likely be heading to Triple-A Worcester and can be left on the waiver wire in single-year fantasy leagues for the time being. Priester made his big-league debut last year and went 2-6 in 10 appearances (six starts) for the Bucs this year while posting a 5.04 ERA (4.81 FIP) and 1.45 WHIP with a 31:13 K:BB in 44 2/3 frames. The Red Sox will be hoping they can turn Priester around in the long term for a rotation spot down the road after he's posted an unattractive 6.46 ERA in 94 2/3 innings so far in the majors the last two years.
